All- if you haven't heard by now, we got approved for a dog park...however, we have to come up with 1/2 of the estimated funding. Things being implemented include selling concessions on the weekends at the pool, a dog walk (6 June) and pre-paid membership to the dog park ($10 off for the first year). Look in this months Community Newsletter for information. Also, use Facebook-join the "Friends of Seven Oaks Dog Park" Club for more information and to post your pictures. Thanks! Amanda Brown

I am looking to buy a home in the Odenton/Severn area and a dog park would be a plus on my list. Disney Road in Severn has a dog park for their residents so I don't see why Seven Oaks can't have one.

((((Wag)))) ((((Wag)))) (((Wag)))!!!! Speaking for the furballs around here, we'd just like to say that when our mom has time, she piles us into the car and drives us over to the doggie park in Crofton, and we run and play with the big dogs like the Rottweilers we'd like to think we are. Mom takes us for long walks around Seven Oaks when she can, too, but it's not the same thing: we have to "heel" and behave like perfect little gentlemen, and we can't pull or run or sniff to our hearts' content. We have a great deal of energy, and live in a small townhouse with a tiny back yard--running up and down the stairs chasing a ball is about the only real exercise we get, and it's not fair! Mom works, so she can't use the pool or the gym or the tennis courts, and we've lived here for four years, but she's never yet been able to attend one of the picnics or parties. We have no little humans, so she doesn't use the tot-lots either . . . this would be something she'd really love, and it would be a great way to promote some "community spirit" in the areas of Seven Oaks where neighbors don't even know one another's first names! We're all for it, and we hope the Board of Humans says "yes, yes, yes." Thank you for remembering that dogs are people, too! GOOD HUMANS!!!

Are we going to have running water for those hot days? I may have to drive 15 minutes but it is FREE and has water for my dogs to drink.

I am excited to hear that there will be a new place to bring my dog that is closer to home! I think all communities should have one and hope that the Brooklyn Park area can do this =).

I think it is a good idea to have a safe place for the dogs to play in the neighborhood. My dog, Stretch, would love it. I take him to the dog park in Laurel, Annapolis, and Crofton but it would be nice to have one here.

How long will it take to become reality? I can't wait to play there with my dog and meet neighbors.

I know that this can happen and strongly believe that this will only enhance Seven Oaks. It will create a social opportunity for Seniors, the dogs, and for residents to get to know each other. Looking forward to seeing this become a reality!

I saw your post on craiglist and decided to check it out..I dont live in Seven Oaks but in a neighborhood with a dog park. I could not think of a better way to get to know your neighbors. I wish you the best of luck in getting your own dog park!

A dog park in our community would only enhance it. So many people have dogs and when looking for a place to live would definitely pick a community with a park over one without. We take our dog to the Laurel dog park where we have met a lot of very nice people. Since my husband and I don't utilize the community pool, gym, etc., it would be a great place to meet our own neighbors.

Have had the opportunity to meet and talk to many neighbors in the past two and a half yrs.since I got Nino,he loves the attention and has told me he would love the chance to play and run with the other dogs we see in the neighborhood, the way he used to when they came to the field.

YEEEAH!!! it is so super important for dogs to socialize, and then they're nice and tired. we all know, a tired dog is a good dog : )
